Hi! My name is Amy and I am the creator of Iron Oxide. Thanks so much for taking a look at my work.
Iron Oxide is a woman-owned, American-Made line of artisan jewelry that celebrates modern magic. My focus is on timeless design, beautiful stones, quality materials + craftsmanship. Attention and care is imbued in each piece, as every piece is constructed by hand in my studio in Portland, OR.
As much as possible, I work to find ethically sourced stones - meaning we know where they are sourced from, that they are conflict free stones, and that the working conditions are safe and workers are fairly compensated. We also work with suppliers who can ensure that the environmental impact is low by providing more informations about the regulations being followed.
Additionally I work with synthetic or lab grown stones since there is no harmful mining practice associated with them and the carbon footprint is lower than mining. I also use recycled brass and silver and source packaging that uses post consumer materials.
In addition, Iron Oxide donates 25% of all profits to various organizations each month to groups like Black Lives Matter, IRCO, the ACLU and NAYA to name a few.
I started Iron Oxide in 2009 after I got my BFA in photography at the University of Oregon. I branched into jewelry and graduated from the American Jewelers' Academy in 2013. When I am not making jewelry I love to travel, go camping and explore the outdoors. My other hobbies include tarot and astrology, watching weird movies, tending to my jungle of houseplants and mental health memes.
